The feared judge Simon Cowell lent a hand in judging England's RSPCA "Dog of the Year" contest in Brighton. He stopped to kiss and hug many of the dogs along the way.

Simon is a huge animal fan, lending his image and voice to PeTA to help inform consumers that any fur, even the trim of a jacket and even if labeled as another animal, could be and frequently is from a dog. Just say no to fur!

Pet Names

Hey readers! I have posted some links on the sidebar that you might enjoy. The most recently added is Pet Names World. It has thousands of great pet names, along with their origin, meaning, and what type of animal they are typically associated with. I looked up LA Desk Dee Dee's puppy Chloe, whose name happens to mean "blooming" in Greek. Very cute for a growing puppy.

If you have a great dog name, leave it in the comments as I always am struggling to name dogs at the shelter!

Joss Stone chills with her toy poodle, Dusty Springfield, at the Barbados airport. She has a cute little tote for Dusty.

Joss was named celebrity pet owner of the year in 2005, narrowly beating out Ashley Olsen by volunteering for the North Shore Animal League America after seeing images of pets stranded in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Wilma.

Ashley Olsen rescued a mixed breed from a NY shelter and third place went to Tori Spelling for her work with an animal shelter in LA.
